To Release Brian Sheppard from the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve with a Entry Level Separation

To The Members of the U.S. Congress (Both the House & the Senate).

We the undersigned do hereby request that Brian Sheppard of Kingston, Massachusetts be released from his contract with the U.S. Marine Reserves. That he be granted an Entry Level Separation (ELS).

Brian was duped by a U.S. Marine Recruiter by the name of Sergeant Jason M. Whipkey USMC into signing a contract in which he assured Brian that he would in no way be sent to Iraq until his 4 years of college was complete. Sergeant Jason M. Whipkey USMC did not inform Brian Sheppard that he was taking an Officers Candidate Exam; instead, he informed Brian that this was a placement test for his request to a communications job. Brian, who is severely dyslexic did not pass the exam, however, Sergeant Jason M. Whipkey USMC did not tell him he was now eligible for deployment to Iraq, instead Sergeant Jason M. Whipkey USMC informed Brian Sheppard that his status had not changed and he would in no way be sent to Iraq. Brian went off to Basic Training, graduated and started college. Brian reported to his first weekend of duty with the reserves in September and it was at that time that he was told that the special program he signed on for did not exist and that he was to prepare to leave for Iraq in January.
