Total Election Accountability

As Washingtonians we are deeply disturbed by extensive and credible
indications of voter disenfranchisement committed in the Ohio
presidential election. We strongly support efforts to review the
conduct of the election and urge Ohio to investigate allegations of organized voter
disenfranchisement . We call on the Government of Ohio to respect the will of the
Ohio people, and we urge all Ohioans to resolve the situation through
peaceful means. The Government bears a special responsibility to allow
free media to report accurately on the situation without intimidation
or coercion. The Democrats of Washington State stand with the Ohioan
people in this difficult time.

Mr. Berendt, we have supported this party for many years, we have come
out in droves for Christine Gregoire, we are ready to stand behind her to
the very end, but we are more than Washington Democrats, we are
American Democrats. We reject the unfair treatment of our fellow
Democrats in Ohio in the current election, and are increasingly
concerned as reports of voter disenfranchisement and tabulation
irregularities are becoming so frequent as to suggest systemic
problems. We support the work of hundreds of Americans throughout
the country who have mobilized to conduct statistical analyses of the
election results, collect testimony about voting procedures and
problems, and then publicize their findings in local newspapers and on
the Internet. We applaud the efforts of Representatives Conyers and
Nadler, who petitioned the GAO for "the widest, most impartial
investigation that can be had." We commend Bev Harris and her team at
BlackBoxVoting.org for their tireless work in investigating the
election. In the absence of a robust media examination of voting
irregularities in Ohio , we request that you maintain contact with the
Ohio State Democrats and report to us regularily to keep us informed
of Ohio's ongoing recount efforts.
Let us stand as a unit and have all the Democrats throughout
this great land support full disclosure about what happened on
November 2nd. As our President defends the rights of Ukranians to
have fair elections, we demand fair elections here at home.
