Dear Friends,
On October 23, 2009 a young man in our community of Mechanicsville, VA was involved in a horrible incident. After being bullied by a group of boys and an altercation in Tractor Supply this young man who has high academic accolades fell short in his ability to defend himself in an appropriate manner. He lost his ability to rationally defend himself and grabbed the nearest thing to him (an ax) to defend himself. He is now in jail waiting to find out his fate, charged with aggravated malicious wounding. Although this young man certainly must pay for his mistake, he is in fact a minor and should be tried as such. He has only been 16 for a few weeks and deserves to gain all of the judicial processes as a minor.
To help you get an idea of Omars commitment to his education here are some samples of his academic accomplishments:
-Omar has a Certificate of Merit from National Young Leaders State Conference in recognition of meritorious achievement in scholarship, leadership and citizenship, the National Young Leaders State Conference formally acknowledges. He was selected to attend the state conference in Japan as a diplomat in a few months as well.
-IB film: 94.6/ IB English: A /AP Physics: 90 (B )/ math: C / Graphic Arts: 100 A+ / German II: B
