A SOUTHERN ROCK FESTIVAL IN THE UK
Something is needed to fill the hole in the market left by endless numbers of "pop" festivals populated only by bands that are played daily on the radio and one or two classic bands that the media, try as they might, can't deny.
There are a huge number of bands that could be included in this kind of event, ranging from southern rock heavyweights like Skynyrd, ZZ Top, Allman Brothers and Molly Hatchet, through Black Crowes, Blackfoot, The Outlaws, .38 Special, Gov't Mule etc etc etc. Many of these would draw substantial crowds on their own, given the rarity of their shows in the UK, but all of them together would be an enormous event.
This kind of event would give all the classic southern rock and roll fans of the UK and even the rest of europe something central to attend that would serve as a place to meet the rest of the southern rock community from across europe, as well as a rare chance to see some of their favourite bands. Something truly in the spirit of the classic rock and roll festival is needed, and sorely missed in this country.
