This petition is a response to [[Wikipedia founder|Jimmy Wales]]' remarks to Wired News Online on Dec, 29, 2006, saying he doesn't know how the Wikipedia community is managed and doesn't know if it makes sense "to manage a community".
The English [[Wikipedia]] was started in [[2001]] and at the time of writing has around 1,563,290 articles mothered by a dedicated team of more than one million [[Wikipedians]], some more committed than others, but all of whom essentially make up a powerful community behind the scenes - upholding the world's largest information project ever.
We call upon founder Jimbo to sustain us; the contributors and editors as a '''community''' within the wikipedia framework and continue his work to propel a community drive to deal with the everyday aspects of the project. We need to hear his thoughts on us
