If our government would put a cap on the amount of money paid to these people or a clause that would obligate these individuals to donate a large portion of their exceedingly large income to a worthwhile cause, then we might be able to help and/or stop some of the following:
*Child hunger and starvation
*Women/Men/Teens/Children/Babies sold into prostitution
*Cancer research
*AIDS research
*Terrorism
*Research into global warming and its impact
*Homelessness and Poverty
*Working, single mothers who are unable to make ends meet
*Social security and the aged
*Maternity and paternity leave
*Employee rights
*Civil rights
*Racial division
*Healthcare
*Mental health
*Education
.......among so many other issues that are at the heart of the downfall of our civilization. We are up against a world that glorifies sports and movies while leaving behind the very essence of human decency. We ought to pay our teachers and doctors, childcare providers and social workers the money they deserve for the work they do - not to someone who provides us with a few hours of meaningless escape.
Within this petition, I do not propose a ban on all forms of larger incomes, but a sensible and reasonable cap which may then enable us to better the society with which we live. Entertainment is a way of life, but to be paid almost a half billion dollars over five years (soccer great, David Beckham's latest deal) is a horrendous injustice to the child who goes hungry tonight.
Please input any further suggestions as this petition came from the heart, not from a politician's campaign writer.
