A Call for Justice for Leonard Peltier

It is the belief of the undersigned that Leonard Peltier was unjustly imprisoned. Evidence proving his innocence was withheld from his trial and false testimonies were admitted. A request for a retrial was denied and later the judge that denied it regretted his decision. Mr. Peltier should be pardoned by President Obama to rectify this situation.
Although the years of his life cannot be restored nor the health of his body repaired, at least his spirit can be healed by returning him to his people which he has continued to serve even from behind prison bars. The 35 years he has already spent in prison is the longest term for anyone convicted of the crime for which he was falsely accused.
Despite multiple attacks by fellow inmates Leonard Peltier has become not only a model prisoner but a renowned humanitarian. All the proceeds from the sale of his writings and paintings have produced a fund which provides for the essential needs of people in poverty. Being a two time candidate for the Noble Prize, he advocates for the peaceful progression of all people to equality.
He is the pride of his people and the pride of all people who believe in the dignity of the human being. Social justice demands that Leonard Peltier be restored to the true dignity of all free beings without further delay. It is for this that we implore the mercy of the President of these United States to pardon Leonard Peltier, as only the President can and free him to continue his work of social justice without the restraints of prison life.
