Esteemed Sir:
We, NRIs, are facing great hardship trying to adopt children from India. The process is cumbersome and very time consuming. The introduction of dual citizenship by your government has given us hope that the process of adopting a child from India will become simpler and easier.
We request that those who hold the OCI (Overseas Citizen of India) card be treated on par with Indian citizens residing in India for adoption purposes. This will greatly expedite the process of adopting a child from India. It will give immense happiness to us as it will drastically cut down the very long time that it currently takes to complete the process. This will also be good for the children. The sooner they go into a loving home, the better it is for them.
We would be very grateful if you could please help us in this regard.
