Was Germany deleted from the list of nations because of one person, Hitler?
No it was not deleted, and that was the right decision on the worlds part.
Unfortunately, AEGEE-Budapest was deleted from the list of antennas because of one person, former treasurer Zsuzsa Balogh. It was her, and not AEGEE-Budapest itself, who is under a strong suspicion of stealing a significant amount of money which belonged to the SOROS-foundation. This was done without the knowledge or consent of any other member. She was the one who caused a huge damage to AEGEE-Europe, both in terms of money and image. The police is still investigating the case at this time.
The only crime of the other members was that they put their trust in the treasurer and were negligent in checking up on her. Yet, everyone was harshly punished with the decision of having AEGEE-Budapest deleted because of one persons action.
However, at this time the group has changed; even though some of current members were part of the former AEGEE-Budapest, there are many new members who either have had prior AEGEE-experience at another antenna or just heard about AEGEE and are very interested in this multi-national organization. EVERYONE WANTS TO WORK FOR AEGEE-SPIRIT BUT NONE OF US ARE CRIMINALS! You most likely know somebody from our group as well, and you would also say the same!
Despite our most diligent efforts to reinstitute ourselves, the CD keeps turning us down! Our only request is to be allowed to work and have fun in AEGEE. Its only possible, though, if we become official members here in Budapest. Currently, we are supposed to do AEGEE-related activities through other antennas from other cities in Hungary. This is both pointless and inefficient. How effective can we possibly be if everything we do have to be sent to people in another city? Could you go weekly to another city in order to talk about the timely problems and tasks and still have the time to fulfill obligations in your initial residence? How do you keep the company together when all operations and decisions are to be made kilometers away?
We are asking again for you to sign this petition reinstating AEGEE-Budapest. If you sign, you are claiming that you trust us as an antenna, and you believe that we are also worthy of trust from others as well. I hope thats not that hard decision for you to make (mainly if you would like to come for SU or just for fun to nice, beautiful, amazing Budapest ... ;-)).
