Honorable Minister Sir,
This public petition is against the proposal for the HRD Ministry of Government of India to increase the reservation for Backward Classes to 49.5\% in higher education institutes including IIT's and IIM's
We believe that the move is detrimental and will increase the divide in the society along caste lines while not addressing the core issues of development of backward classes. "Reservation" as a policy undermines the spirit of meritocracy in the society.
It is certainly important to give opportunities of growth and create a level playing field for the under-privileged classes- but a better way to tackle these issues is at the primary education level. We believe that all classes of society have a full right to primary education.
We oppose any such reservation measures at institutes of higher learning like IIT's and IIM's.
We hope that the Government of India will not implement the policy of increasing the reservation quota in the higher institutes of learning.

Why should the moneyed from any class of society receive these benefits. Income should be the only criteria for any reservations. If destruction of the class hierarchy is the aim, then this should be the way forward.
