APA - New Riding Area in NY

We are a small group of fellow riding enthusiasts. We would like to inform you about a private track and trail riding facility that we propose to construct and operate in the Johnsburg/Thurman area in Warren County, NY. The project involves the creation of 3 ATV tracks and 3 MX tracks for varying skill levels, an oval flat track, a drag strip, approximately thirty miles of backcountry, mountain riding trails, and a campground area on 738 acres. The project has been submitted to the Adirondack Park Agency (APA) for permit approvals and is going through the review process.

We are seeking support for this venture from ORV, ATV, Motorcycle clubs and individual riders, to demonstrate the need and desire for a project of this type to the APA and other oversight agencies. We have been told that this is the first project of its type to be proposed to the APA. We anticipate the ongoing approval process may include a public hearing at some point in time. A show of support in the form of signatures on a petition, at a hearing, could have positive results for not only this project but the entire ORV community. We are told that this will be the first of its kind within the Adirondack Park and possibly the Northeast section of the country.

We need your support. We need to show them that we, the ORV community, want this facility. With the confiscation of NY State funds, from the registration of ATVs, that was supposed to be used for the development and maintenance of trails, then the closure of those trails, we are left with very few places to ride. This facility will also create much needed jobs and bring more tourists to an area that needs an economic boost.

We see this as an important way to protect and promote our passion for the sport. We hope we can count on your support as we move forward with this project to provide legal riding alternatives to the ATV/MX community.

Your signature on this petition will demonstrate your willingness to travel to this area of NY as a tourist and frequent our riding facility, along with other tourist attractions in the area. If we can get this facility approved here, it increases the chances for other facilities in NY state and elsewhere.

We, the undersigned, hereby petition the above mentioned entities, to allow the development and operation of the RPMs Riding/Camping facility in Johnsburg/Thurman, NY (as applied for by Richard & Karen Mohring).

The current ban of ATVs riding on State land discriminates against the hard working people who own and ride them. The State takes our money for registration of these vehicles and provides nowhere to ride them. This includes the counties encompassed by the Adirondack Park.

This facility will also create jobs and bring tourists to an area of our State that needs an economic boost.

I fully support this project and would like to see the permit for this facility to be developed and operated, approved.
