Re: Murderer, Michael S. York, Prisoner No. 265 610 at Hocking Correctional
Victim: Heather Sedivy York, State of OH, case no. 92CR0217
We, the undersigned, oppose the parole and/or early release of convicted murderer Michael S. York. He was sentenced to 15 yrs to life for this crime in 1992. This man is a convicted, brutal, and violent murderer. I am afraid that he could kill again. The Ohio Parole Board's ruling during his 2002 parole hearing was that Michael York was denied parole and was not eligible to appear before the board again until July 1 of 2012.
However, due to an Ohio Civil Case, Ankrom vs Hageman, Michael York and approx. 3,000 other Ohio inmates will be eligible for new hearings and possible early release. Michael York's parole hearing is now rescheduled for September of 2005. Many of these inmates, like Michael York, have also been convicted of savage crimes also leaving behind thousands of victims and grieving families like us. Many are repeat offenders.
Michael York waited until Heather fell asleep, and at approximately 5:30 AM covered her head with a sheet, and savagely hit Heather 25 times in the head with a hammer, knocking her eye out, fracturing her skull in numerous places and leaving impressions of each hammer blow, completely disfiguring her face.
Heather instinctively put her hands up to try to defend herself--and Michael York smashed her hands too--her fingers were broken and mangled, one nearly completely severed. My beloved daughter, Heather Sedivy York aged 23, is dead and sentenced to eternity and forever lies in her grave. Michael took Heather's life and therefore should forfeit his own by spending the rest of his life in prison.
There has never been any doubt that Michael York killed 23 year old Heather Sedivy York, his wife of only 3 years. At the trial, York's attorney's opening statement was "MICHAEL YORK KILLED HIS WIFE". After the conviction, Judge George Martin said to Michael York, "WHAT YOU HAVE DONE IS ALMOST TOO HORRIBLE AND VIOLENT...IT CAN'T BE COMPREHENDED WHY ANY PERSON WOULD DO WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR WIFE OR TO ANY OTHER PERSON".
Mike was asked repeatedly, by Judge Martin, if he had anything to say to the family whom he had devastated, and he refused. He has yet to this day shown any remorse for the brutal murder of Heather. We ask for your help in keeping this savage murderer behind bars.
