Background Check Credit Discrimination

My name is Angela McGill,I currently live in Calumet City, IL. I along with other minorities have a major issue with pre-employment background checks that include credit investigations. Personal money troubles
shouldn't have any bearing on the ability to do a honest days work. How and why is this Legal? This is another loop hole form of discrimination. There are no laws prohibiting "discrimination" against people with bad credit histories. Credit check policy's has a disparate impact that keeps a legally protected group of minorities from getting employment. This practice overwhelmingly denies employment to African Americans and other minorities mostly because of poor credit history this should definitely result in Race-based discrimination claims all across the United States. A 2000 study by Freddie Mac found striking race-credit correlations: African Americans 48\% Bad Credit...Hispanics 34\% Whites 27\%, the race-credit correlation is even stronger than the income credit correlation: Annual income: Under 25,000 36\% Bad Credit....25,000 -44,999 33\% Bad credit..45,000-64,000 25\% Bad credit. My point is this, there should be a Bill that needs to be in place, that companies can't run your credit for employment. I was told by my employer that it would show if I was trustworthy or not. I am not being extended a line of credit I am trying to get a job. This should be a Federal law implemented immediately. Please Consider!! A bring to the floor. This is a major issue that is being ignored. This country is supposed to be based on the Constitution and yet Rich people and Corporations still find a way to beat the system and hold Minorities back. African Americans and minorities have it hard in America the land of the free. And there are situations out of our control sometimes that cause bad credit. For example a spouses death, basing income off two people and you are no longer together, hospital bills, Sickness, Divorce. Stand up for our Rights!!! Please Sign this petition for change.
