Bar Study Loans for 2009 JMLS Atlanta Graduating Class

The students and alumni of Atlanta's John Marshall Law School would like the Board of Directors to approve the Director of Financial Aid's proposal to provide bar study loans to those taking the July 2009 bar.
We all feel that we have made significant investments in our legal education and have provided the resources and backing which have helped the school grow and move forward with the ABA Accreditation process.
JMLS faculty and administration have urged the students not to work during bar exam preparation, however without the financial support of the school we feel the school is not taking a vested interest in its students.
We feel that not providing school supported financial backing along with the current credit crisis puts us at a significant disadvantage and may adversely affect our class's bar passage rate, which could in turn affect the school's request for full accreditation. This could thus affect those current students and any future incoming classes.
For the aforementioned reasons, we respectfully ask that the JMLS Administration and Board of Directors reconsider their decision and come up with a plan to financially assist this year's graduating class.
Respectfully submitted,
Students of John Marshall Law School Atlanta
