As-salmau Alykum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuhu
We pray to Allah (SWT) that this reaches you in the best of health inshaAllah. It has recently been brought to our attention that the Majlis As-Shura of Islamic Foundation of Toronto has decided not to renew the contract of Br. Yahya Qureshi, thus removing him as principal of Islamic Foundation School. As former students, current students, and parents, this news has come as a shock to us and we completely disagree with the decision of the Foundation.
Br. Yahya has worked extremely hard to make IFS what it is today, and no other principal in the history of the institution has ever been able to do that. We dont need to pinpoint any of his achievements, as they all stand out on their own. Br. Yahya rescued the school when it seemed to be in trouble, and almost single handily made it into an excellent institution, an institution that is an example for the public school boards, as were the words of the Ministry of Education inspector. The leadership program, the multi faith programs, radio IFS, sports programs, tafseer of the Quran, and most of all the multiple number of high school courses being offered at IFS are only because of Br.Yahyas hard work and dedication.
We believe that Br.Yahya deserves to return as principal of Islamic Foundation School, and the Majlis needs to give him the opportunity to fulfill his dream of making Islamic Foundation School the best school in Canada. Under the leadership of Br.Yahya we certainly believe that IFS will not only be the best school in Canada, but also it will be an example for schools worldwide inshaAllah. The school is at a crucial stage, where it is progressing and showing signs of producing good young Muslim leaders. By changing principals at this stage, all of that will be in jeopardy. The Majlis As-Shura needs to completely examine the situation, and keep in mind the opinions of the students and the parents of Islamic Foundation School.
We hope inshaAllah, the Majlis will make a decision that will be for the betterment of the students of Islamic Foundation School.
