Some think this has something to do with the tragedy that occured on September 11. Don't fool yourself, this was only used as an excuse to help get Mobile Suit Gundam off the air. Mobile Suit Gundam never shows war in a positive aspect; THEY ALWAYS SHOW WHY WAR AND VIOLENCE IS SO BAD IN THE FIRST PLACE! Most people merely push out the answer that it was removed because war is on there, it doesn't matter that war is shown to be so bad on the show. But if that was the case, then why would Toonami air Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz on September 14th when Mobile Suit Gundam is just as, if not more anti-war than that show is?! Its undeniable proof of what I'm about to say. The executives at Cartoon Network care only about ratings and advertising dollars. Toonami has been totally corrupted ever since the new ownership came into being, and now we've reached a point where the show is nothing but Dragonball.
In the end, Mobile Suit Gundam was cancelled because it was not a Dragonball Z type show that could attract lots of little kids and big ratings. Ratings for Mobile Suit Gundam were widely reported as bad. However, take a look at why this is happening. For one thing, those compiling the ratings are not looking at older people, but instead the primary fans of DBZ on Toonami. The ratings are those from 6-13 year old boys, the ratings for all other groups are being ignored. Think about the timeslot. At 5:00, most people watching the show would be at work! Why not air the show at 6:30, or even later when you'll be guaranteed to have an even bigger audience. Maybe now you'll know why the ratings were reported as so bad.
Tell Cartoon Network's Executives how you feel, sign this petition! The day we've all feared has arrived, when Toonami is all Dragonball/Z, and if something isn't done, you can forget about ever seeing a single Gundam show ever on that network again.
