We are disappointed with the decision to reschedule KBPI Metalix to two nights per week and believe it should retain its six nights per week schedule.
Metalix gives listeners an opportunity to hear new music from metal and hardcore bands on lesser-known record labels that would normally not be played on mainstream radio.
It also gives valuable airtime to local bands, has helped some of them get signed to record labels and has inspired fans to start bands of their own. Because of Metalix the Colorado metal community has expanded which benefits not only fans but concert venues and promoters.
Metalix promotes small venue concerts and the exposure from that promotion consistently draws large crowds to see underground bands that depend on touring to make money.
It is the only show of its kind on a mainstream rock station in the rocky mountain region and draws fans from all over the country who stream the show online.
Moving Metalix into a two night format marginalizes Colorado's burgeoning metal and hardcore community and sends a message that KBPI is only committed to playing music from "safe" major label bands. For the good of the station and the Colorado metal community, Metalix deserves a place on weeknights.

Kbpi has lost hundreds of thousands of listeners by getting rid of Metalix. I know i do not speak for myself when i say i will never tune into kbpi again if Metalix is removed. You guys had a good thing going. Put it back on weeknights!

Being a Marine I travel alot, and I've found Metalix to be a highly unusual spot for any radio station. Metalix is a great reason to continue listening to KBPI, and says alot about the community in the great state of CO. Please keep it rockin!
