BSkyB Field Engineers - Protest over Proposed Changes to Bonus System

BskyB as a company have continued to grow at a terrific rate, seeing a huge increase in profits. However, Sky engineers are currently experiencing changes to the bonus system, which could leave them financially worse off.
The main concern raised by engineers is that they dont feel like they share in the in either the success or the profits of the company and that when changes are implemented, they are usually at the sharp end of management decisions. We do not believe this is in Sky, or the engineers best interests.
What the changes to the bonus system mean for engineers:
Over a 3rd of your bonus (42\%) is now based on overall team performance.
You will receive an increase to your basic pay of 1,000 but at the same time productivity bonus, van bonus and delivery rate which equates to over four times this amount will now be incorporated in to the bonus scheme; which you may not achieve
Sky is removing productivity from your basic pay under the auspices of customer care i.e. quality not quantity, but yet they are not reducing the amount of jobs allocated
You will no longer accrue extra paid minutes for covering sick leave, but if they are not covered it will still affect your team bonus as a cancellation
If you are placed on Gate 1, 2 or 3, even for the most minor of incidents it will affect your bonus
Even though Sky have now removed overnight cancellations, if a customer calls sky within 48 hours after you have visited them it will still affect your bonus
If you are sick for four days within any one month you will lose your bonus for the month
If you are absent 3 times or more in 6 months you will lose your Sky package for the year
You will only be able to book leave if you can give 4 weeks notice
SEG30 will remain, even though it means you fielding calls and working on your days off
Also, it is likely that a new GPS tracking system will be implemented across the fleet.
Under the new gate system the changes will be rolled out over a number of months, and coupled with the fact that the bonus will now be calculated quarterly, as opposed to monthly, engineers will not see the full impact to their take home pay until many months down the line.

*Petition:
BskyB has continued to defy the economic downturn, with a huge increase in profits year on year. However, Sky engineers are now experiencing changes to the bonus system, which could leave them financially worse off.
We believe it is only right that Sky engineers share in the success of the company and it is clear that if Sky wishes to continue to prosper, it can only do so with the commitment and dedication of its frontline staff.
Therefore, we the undersigned wish to voice our concern about these changes and urge Sky to enter in to negotiation with our chosen representatives the CWU in order to build good industrial relations and increase morale across the workforce.
