Change Child Support Legislation for Paying Parents to a Per Child Basis.

Everyone, particularly the Paying Parents of the NZ Child Support system will understand it is not working!  Hundreds upon thousands of people are being plunged into debt by this hideous system.  The current formula is based on paying a percentage of your yearly income.

This Petition's main goal is to change the Law of the NZ Child Support Formula to Payments on a "Per Child" Basis.

Ask yourself this question; "how much does a child actually cost per week"??   The average cost of a child per week is around $100. This amount for example should be divided by both the Mother and the Father, so a fair amount for each parent to be contributing is $50 each. For example a paying parent has two children, a fair and realistic amount for him/her to be paying the custodial parent is $100 for two children per week i.e $50 per child.   Just by changing to the Per Child Payment Basis will be helping reduce the current problems happening in our Society:-

*  Men/women paying child support will willingly do so without complaint, as this is a fair and realistic amount to pay.

*  90% of poverty in New Zealand is due to the unfair charges of child support, admin reviews and penalties i.e. causing suicide, debt, depression, feeling trapped and helplessness etc.

*  Men/women paying child support will not be disadvantaged in their own lives and wellbeing.

*  Paying child support should not be an incentive to earn less money and/or stop working and go on a benefit, as many men/women currently are doing.
