We would like to request that you vote for Christian Bale for Best Actor in a Leading Role for his performance in The Dark Knight.
Christian Bale has been a respected actor for nearly 20 years, with award-winning performances in six different films and nominations in yet another five. He has won widespread critical acclaim for his roles in Empire of the Sun, American Psycho, The Machinist, I'm Not There, The Prestige, Harsh Times, 3:10 to Yuma, Rescue Dawn, and of course Batman Begins and The Dark Knight. Yet he has never been nominated for an Academy Award.
With the reimagining of the Batman role in Batman Begins in 2005 and the recent The Dark Knight in 2008, he has created a complex, deeply emotional image of Batman, without which these movies would cease to be as compelling and sophisticated as they are. We believe he deserves to be recognized for the excellence of that contribution this year, at the 81st Annual Academy Awards, as a nominee for the Best Actor Oscar.
