City of Corinth Water Pricing

Dear City of Corinth Residents,

Some of you may have noticed that our water bills have gone up over the last 6 months or so. If not, check your bills from this time last year. I called the water department about 4 months ago to complain about the increase and was told that that the department had an increase in their rates. I asked what the increase was and was told 38\%!! I asked the lady why the water department had gone up that much and she said that they had not had an increase in a little while. I responded by saying that this increase should be enough for the next decade at least. The lady also said that she does not live in the City of Corinth and she would be mad as well if her water bill went up 38\%.

During the next 3-4 months, I attached a letter to my monthly bill complaining about the price increase. I was finally able to speak with a lady that works in the water department and she told me that she agrees with me, but I needed to take my complaints to the City Council and she gave me the website address. I originally was going to send each council member a personal e-mail, but I figured that it would get deleted in about 5 seconds. So, I thought if the people who live in Corinth got together and complained together that it would make a lot bigger statement than me doing this by myself.

So, I am asking the residents of the City of Corinth to come together and let the Council members know that increasing our water bill by 38\% is not acceptable. I guess a better question to the Council members would be why did they need to raise our bills by 38\%? Is it because the budget was not correctly managed?

Do any of you know of any company that raises their rates by 38\% in one year?
