To the Honorable Senators George Voinovich and Michael DeWine:
We, the undersigned citizens and voters of the State of Ohio, do hereby urge your opposition to any legislation that would privatize Social Security, whether through private accounts or any other means.
We also urge you to oppose legislation that cuts benefits, lengthens the retirement age or in any way diminishes the scope and benefits of Social Security.
We believe there is no immediate crisis and whatever problems that might face the Trust Fund 40-50 years from now could be resolved by lifting the cap on the maximum taxable income level.
We urge you to respect the promise made to American people who have paid, and are paying, their taxes that Social Security will be there for them when they retire.
