Don't "Cell" Us Out

We the undersigned charge the Board of Commissioners, Clackamas County and County staff to disapprove the application by AT&T and Scott Michaels (Z0665-09, Z0666-09) for a 150 cell phone tower at 23785 Benchwood Lane in Rhododendron, Oregon. We request that safer locations for cell towers in rural Clackamas County be chosen. These locations need to be at least seven miles from schools to protect the health of children. Tower locations should also abide by voluntary federal guidelines for bird and wild life protection.

We want these towers to be 100 feet tall or less and camouflaged to blend with the environment. Their locations should not disturb rural residents lifestyle nor add to night sky and noise pollution. Noise standards need to be stricter than standards designed for urban areas.

We request representatives from the Mt. Hood Corridor Community Planning Organization( CPOs) and other rural CPOs become members of a Clackamas County constituted planning group to determine the locations for cell towers in rural areas which will serve best serve cell phone consumers, the health of the community and environment, and limit the impact on property values.

We want all elected representatives (Federal and State) in the state of Oregon to work with and assist their constituents by revising and updating county, state, and federal telecommunications codes and statutes due to data from studies and experience since 2000, when Clackamas Countys code was developed.
