Education Reform in Ontario

Complicated marking schemes and "student directed" learning are destroying the education system. Marks are assigned on multiple levels for a single task meaning a sum total of very little.  The new paradigm of letting students learn for themselves is useless - we have trained highly educated professionals that we pay good money to in order to impart that knowledge. Not let the students stumble around trying to learn correct methods by themselves.

We need to:

ONE: return to a percentage marking system that we can all understand - with the understanding that; yes, you can actually fail.

TWO: Teachers teach and guide.  Students are not qualified to teach themselves.

We are doing absolutely no good to our future by encouraging mediocrity and lack of failure.  Any intelligent person can tell you that they have learned more from their failures than from false success.
