Fix It Now

We the undersigned do hereby petition the United States Congress and the President to act immediately to protect our nation from the threats presented by open borders and a failed immigration policy.

We petition Congress and the President to enact and implement a Comprehensive Immigration Reform bill that is based upon the following principles:

1. The northern and southern borders of the United States should be
secure through fencing, walling, technology, and sufficient human resources to make it as difficult as possible for anyone to enter the United States illegally. The Congress should enact a law requiring that a fence, wall or other similar physical barriers be built on our northern and southern border.

2. Undocumented persons who are presently residing in the United States should be required to register and file applications for residency. Such applications shall be deemed approved provided such applicant does not have a felony conviction. The Congress should give such persons a specified time to register. Anyone failing to register shall be subject to deportation and deemed not eligible to return to the United States no sooner than 15 years. The program shall provide that those who meet specified criteria (such as learning English and having no felony convictions) shall be eligible for citizenship if they desire.

3. The Congress should establish a guest worker opportunity program that offers citizens who want to come to America to work in opportunity to do so provided they do not have criminal records and meet the terms and conditions set forth by the legislation which shall include but not be limited to employee portability, biometric identification systems and provisions through which participants can earn their way to residency or citizenship.

4. The Congress should enact laws strengthening the enforcement of immigration laws and increase agency capacity to carry on enforcement activities. Employers who employ illegal workers should be held accountable to follow all applicable state and federal laws. Congress shall appropriate sufficient funds to ensure aggressive enforcement of our immigration laws.

We implore the Congress and the President to deal with the immigration problem that threatens the security and future of our country now. We respectfully ask that you act to Fix It Now and set forth out signatures to petition our government to that important cause.
