Next weekend transport companies will be offering free public transport to those who have a ticket to the Phoenix park mass. Road closures throughout Dublin for this event have seriously inconvenienced travellers throughout Dublin and those from neighbouring counties who travel in or around Dublin.
This petition is for those who cannot gain easy access to their place of work, for those who are effected with a disability and for all those who will travel particularly people with young families who will find it very difficult to travel next week. Considering the extra travelling our homeless community and those in emergency provision will have to do. We request that free transport be available to ALL people and not just those who are attending a religious ceremony.
The plans to not include all are discriminatory and biased. Travel companies who only offer this to some people are well aware that there are many other events planned to counter the right wing political display that is the popes visit.
For years organisations in Ireland were complicit in not pointing out the Roman Catholic Church's grip on our society.
Let us not fail this time.
