He brings to the ring technical excellence mixed with a loose and free flowing style like few have before. He is one of the most consistently entertaining personas, no matter what character he is given, or what company he is working for. When saddled with subpar storylines and silly gimmicks, he has made lemons into lemonade, and when given the chance to work with great writing and great competitors he has always been up to the challenge.
Besides his ability, what makes Booker one of the greats is his loyalty and his work ethic. He worked for WCW until the bitter end. The company had been good to him and put the championship on him a number of times, and even though things had changed, the production team was gutted and the product became abyssmal, Booker came to work every night, and gave everything he had. When WWE bought WCW, They rewarded him for this loyalty, but also for his desire to work and come to WWE, giving up the rest of his Turner Contract, by putting the WCW championship on him on the final edition of Monday Nitro.
Since then however, its been a mixed bag for Booker T. During the horribly bungled WCW "invasion" angle, The WCW championship was passed around to so many WWE stars as to make it almost meaningless, as if the fact that the likes of David arquette and Vince Russo held in the last days of WCW wasnt enough. Booker found himself without the title quickly, and with little to do. He had some memorable feuds with Steve Austin and such, and found himself in line for the new version of the WCW title, the World Heavyweight Championship, going into Wrestlemania 19 against HHH. In one of the biggest booking mistakes the WWE has ever made, they put HHH over Booker to retain.
Since then, Booker has been trying to recover, feuding over the middle belts, working in and out of different tag teams, and suffering through some poor writing. No matter how much respect the man has from the wrestling fans, it seems that WWE as a company doesnt have the confidence in him that WCW had. He's not as young as he once was, and it would be a shame to see him retire without once again holding the largest prize in the industry, a World Heavyweight Championship, whether it be RAW's or Smackdown's.
That is the point of this Petition. Please sign below if you believe that Booker T should get one last main event angle and one last championship run. Please sign below if you will support such a run with PPV buys and merchandise sales, the things the WWE has concerns about when putting the championship on someone new. Please sign below if you believe greatness and humility is a combination that should be rewarded and congratulated. With your signatures we can get Booker T the send off he deserves.
So this is a message to you WWE. Booker T has done great things for this business. Whether its your history with WCW and his iconic stature with that company that is keeping him out of the top slot, or whether you sincerely dont believe he has the number of fans out there that he does. Whatever the reason, we are here to say that Booker does indeed deserves a last title run, a last shot at glory, before his imminent retirement. A man like him doesnt deserves to beat his body up well past when he should have quit just hoping that one day his chance to be champion will come around again. Give it to him and give it to him soon. He deserves it, and we, the fans, desire it. Thanks you.
