Get Rid of Unfair At Will Employment Laws in Georgia

Georgia is one of many states considered an "at-will" employment law state. What does that mean? According to the Georgia Secretary of State, at will employment means "that in the absence of a written contract of employment for a defined duration, an employer can terminate an employee for good cause, bad cause or no cause at all, so long as it is not an illegal cause."

That's all well and good except for the huge fact that employers in Georgia abuse this power. They know that the state of Georgia as effectively ripped away the rights of employees to defend themselves against unlawful termination. All an employer has to do is lie and say they fired an employee for just cause and that's essentially the end of it.

Georgia needs to amend the employment laws to do more to protect workers from unlawful termination. If you live in Georgia and you agree, even if you agree but don't reside in Georgia, please sign this petition and send it to others to sign also.
