We the undersigned students, faculty, and alumni of Pittsburg State University petition the University to change its policy regarding the Commerce Bank checking account currently attached to the Gorilla ID Card. We object to the University forcing all students to open and maintain a Commerce Bank checking account. Officials from both the University and Commerce Bank have stated that the account is NOT necessary to disperse funds to students, but is rather a convenience. We support the University changing its policy, making the checking account an opt-in feature. This would give students the choice to open a checking account at their discretion.

I'm in full agreement with Neil Bryan (and admire his tenacity and values). Our gorilla cards should be entirely separate from a Commerce checking account. Just like unwanted "junk mail or calls", no student should be subjected to something that they DID
