Gretzky Rookie Status Renewal

The following petition in regards to the unjust decision by the NHL to revoke Wayne Gretzky of his rookie status. In 1979 the National Hockey League revoked Wayne Gretzky of his rookie status citing that he had played a year of professional hockey in the WHA. In the years that followed several players were granted rookie status having played professional hockey in Europe and other leagues yet still given rookie status and in some cases the Calder trophy as rookie of the year. This petition will be submitted to the NHL in hopes they will recognize and rectify their mistreatment of a player that has given so much back to the game of hockey.
