GW Community Supporting Adjunct / Part-Time Faculty

Dear President Trachtenberg:
We the undersigned members of the George Washington University community are concerned with the current administration's failure to begin collective bargaining with adjunct and part-time faculty. We believe that this negatively affects the hiring and retention of qualified adjunct faculty and jeopardizes our expectation of a quality education.
We do not want to see a mass exodus of intelligent, qualified adjuncts leave GW because they do not receive well deserved salary increases and because they are not treated fairly and with respect. As students at GW, we pay among the highest tuition in the country for a private college education and expect that all members of our campus community receive fair wages and just treatment, not just you, President Trachtenberg and your staff. Therefore, we demand that GW comply with the National Labor Relations Board laws and begin to negotiate a first contract, in good faith, with adjunct faculty and their union to guarantee that GW students are afforded the best and brightest instructors.
