Many members of the community are aware of the nightmare caused by the issue of hard water in the Ferrybank area. Financially, hard water has caused many household appliances to need to be changed frequently adding an extra expense to households during an already difficult economic climate. Although there are no known health problems associated with hard water, scaling which can occur in kettles with a metal interior may flake and, as I know personally, can cause scratching to the throat as well as general discomfort. Lime has also been found to build up in shower heads and increase the pressure of water leading to skin problems.
The idea of this petition is to prove to Kilkenny County Council that many people are affected by hard water in the Ferrybank area and put an end to unreturned phone calls. People who have complained have been told that there have not been many complaints made about this issue so hopefully if we collect as many signatures as possible they won't be able to use that excuse and finally act on improving the situation.
Please pass this around to everyone that this issue affects so that we can reach as many signatures as possible before sending this petition to Kilkenny County Council.
