Help House Bill 1184

We of the Green Room Lounge, (http://www.geocities.com/greenroomlounge)have to work with many to fight againest this fascist law.

"The HEA Drug Provision denies federal financial assistance to any
student with a drug conviction, even for simple marijuana possession. Since
taking effect in 1998, over 160,500 students have had their aid denied
or delayed as a result of this law, and countless others have simply
failed to apply for aid because of their convictions. At the same time, it is
illegal to deny financial aid based on any other criminal conviction,
including murder, rape, or aggravated assault."

"This provision unfairly discriminates against low-income and middle
class students who are unable to afford a college education without some form of financial assistance. Even worse, it punishes people a second time
after they have finished serving their time for a drug conviction. To deny
an education to someone who has already been punished for an indiscretion
is illogical and unfair."

As this is in effect it ruins chances of people like us, who unlike most have had a possession charge and because we are also low income. Means I would have to get on the financial this it changes the rules around. Myself in general looked forward to going to Gaming college, and perhaps one day working for a major company such as EA Games or Rockstar Games. If this law stays in effect this could ruin my chances and those of many others, I believe that this should not be allowed. Just because someone has been caught in the past...For say, Marijuana Possession. Should not mean that they cannot get apply for financial aid. Which does not make any sense to be able to apply even after having rape or murder on your record. I think smoking a harmless herb is nothing compared to murder or rape.

So In conclusion, You should sign this petition if you want to change this law, or just to stop a great injustice.
