I want my vote to count!

We, as Americans, have a representative system when it comes to day to day governmental decisions. This works well due to the fact that we donвt want to be hassled with the comings and goings of every single minute decision that needs to be made.

However, when it comes to electing the President, we donвt need this. Currently, the system in place is one that involves an Electoral College. The Electoral College determines who the majority of voters voted for in a particular state and then the entire College for that state gives its votes to that candidate (e.g. a state has 40 electoral votes, if a candidate wins 12,392,034 to 12,209,409 he would get all 40 votes, rather than them being split down the middle).

This method has made the majority of Americans feel disenfranchised, as though their votes donвt count if their state isnвt a state where the race might be close and thus the candidate will actually pay attention to them.

This petition is to request that Congress make a Constitutional Amendment to remove the use of the Electoral College across all states and thus ensure that the candidate who wins, wins by popular vote.
