Dear Mrs Hewitt,
We are writing to you as we find it unacceptable that in this day and age there are a large number of people in the UK (we know that you cover England only) who are blind or partially sighted but are not getting rehabilitation services to live independently.
We would like you to change the law so that every council has to provide rehabilitation training by fully qualified staff.
We would also like to see more funding for this. While the money that has been spent is welcome there is still a large underinvestment. This is one of the reasons why many blind and partially sighted people feel socially excluded and have to stay in their owns isolated..
