Freddie Mercury, born Faroukh Bulsara in Zanzibar, East Africa, was the lead singer of the band Queen, known for songs such as "We Will Rock You", "We Are The Champions", "Bohemian Rhapsody", (note: the one that goes "I see a little silhoutto of a man...") "Another One Bites The Dust", and "Under Pressure".
Their songs were feautured in movies such as How High ("Bicycle Race"), A Knight's Tale ("We Will Rock You"), Revenge Of The Nerds ("We Are The Champions"), Iron Eagle ("One Vison"), Highlander ("A Kind Of Magic", "Who Wants To Live Forever", "Princes Of The Universe"), Flash Gordon ("Flash"), Small Soldiers ("Another One Bites The Dust" (rap version with Wyclef Jean, Pras, and Free), D2: The Mighty Ducks ("We Are The Champions"), and, of course, Wayne's World ("Bohemian Rhapsody").
Freddie Mercury was a showman. He would play to the audience and Queen was known by all to be a great live band. The band also never strayed from its original lineup of Freddie (vocals and keyboards), Brian May (guitar and sometimes vocals), John Deacon (bass), and Roger Taylor (drums and occassionally vocals). Queen was the most popular band in Britan after The Beatles, especially in the 70's. However, in 1991 this would all come to a close.
On November 24th, the day after Freddie Mercury released a press statement to the media, declaring the fact that he contracted HIV and developed the AIDS virus, his life came to a tragic end. He had been working on tracks for a new album, and that album was released in 1995 as Made In Heaven.
This Sunday, we remember Freddie Mercury for the talented singer, amazing showman and all out cool person he was. Please sign this "petition" so everyone can know that Freddie will NOT be forgotten.
"Whatever happens I'll leave it all to chance
Another heartache another failed romance
On and on, does anybody know what we are living for?
I guess I'm learning, I must be warmer now
I'll soon be turning round the corner now
Outside the dawn is breaking, but inside in the dark
I'm aching to be free
The show must go on, the show must go on - yeah
Ooh inside my heart is breaking, my make-up may be
flaking, but my smile still stays on
My soul is painted like the wings of butterflies
Fairy tales of yesterday will grow but never die
I can fly - my friends
The show must go on - yeah, the show must go on
I'll face it with a grin, I'm never giving in
On with the show
I'll top the bill, I'll overkill
I have to find the will to carry on
On with the, on with the show
The show must go on"
~ "The Show Must Go On", Queen, 1991
