We, the undersigned are in full support of the SKIL bill introduced by Rep. Shadegg(R-AZ) and also the other legislations put forth to solve the legal immigration problem, which America faces today. We think, in order to retain the competitive edge in scientific and technological innovation in the world, America needs more technically proficient people from abroad. When the nation is engaged in a wide-ranging debate over illegal immigration, precious little has been done or said about us, who possess advanced skills and degrees, who come here through the legal channel and yet have to surrender themselves to the whims and fancies of the current immigration procedure, which is literally "broken". As per the current system, we have to wait for seven to eight years if not more in order to get that elusive green card. Visa retrogression is a phenomenon which is affecting us to the extent that some of us are even thinking "Is the American Dream worth it?" It is our appeal to the leaders of this great nation to listen to our ordeal and do whatever is possible to alleviate it.
- We urge the Senate, the House and the President to pass the SKIL bill and/or other legislation that would increase the annual cap on employment-based green cards and eliminate "visa retrogression".
- We urge the Senate, the House and the President to exempt individuals with advanced degrees in science and engineering from the annual cap of the employment based green card.
- We urge the Senate, the House and the President to exempt spouses and children from the employment-based green card annual cap.
- We urge the Senate, the House and the President to pass the SKIL bill and/or other legislation that would increase the annual cap on employment-based green cards and eliminate "visa retrogression".
- We urge the Senate, the House and the President to exempt individuals with advanced degrees in science and engineering from the annual cap of the employment based green card.
