Billy Corgan may want his band back but so do its fans! This is a plea from those fans that the lineup of The Smashing Pumpkins remains original.
Jimmy Chamberlin, thank you for being the first to come back. Now we await the return of our beloved James Iha and dearest Darcy.
I think I speak on behalf of all the fans when I say,
James & Darcy, we want you back!
We are not the typical fans because to us you were never the typical band.
We are the true fans who held fast as your sound matured.
We are the ones who understood those changes and appreciated them.
We found beauty in your melodies and inspiration in your words.
We cherished each individual contribution to the band.
We are the ones who stood up for you in spite of mainstream indifference.
We are low maintenance, easily pleased lovers of finely produced music.
We are old and we are young; fans since the beginning or late discoverers.
James & Darcy, we want you back!
We know in our minds eye that it wouldnt be the same without you.
We dont want just two or three original members.
We need all of you in order for this whole thing to work out!
We need a real band in this time of below average music.
We need to hear the name, Smashing Pumpkins, called to stage one more time!
We don't need another Gish, Siamese Dream, Infinite Sadness or Machina.
We want to be taken to the depths of your collective imagination.
We want to see how far you could have gone artistically, had you never separated.
James & Darcy, we want you back!
We beg of you to put aside whatever may be hindering your return. We can only hope that Billy has done his part. If only he would say it with us! Nevertheless, his merely wanting the band back together implies his regret for letting go of you in the first place. And now it comes down to it. How will your fans remember you? By the legacy you left behind to those who couldnt do it justice? Or by your choice to reunite one of the greatest bands of all time? A choice that will make many people cry with happiness The four of you made music that became synonymous with your faces; etched into the minds and memories of millions. Who really could replace you? Come back to us. This is where you belong. Our endless love and support goes out to you as we hold onto that hope.
