KEEP THE A's in OAKLAND

Besides the fact that no great franchise should ever leave its city of success, there are a handful of reasons why the A's shouldn't move:
1. COMMUTE; the Oakland Coliseum is situated in a central location that serves the majority of its
fan base. A new stadium built near or on the existing site will be able to serve the fan base
that comes from I-80 corridor, 580 corridor and San Francisco far better than the Fremont
site. A Fremont stadium means Dublin/Pleasanton Area fans(a majority) will have to transfer
and, along with other fans, have to pay 2x as much for BART, which is already increasing its
prices. More people will have to rely on personal transportation and will have to drive further.
By the time the new stadium is built, gas prices will have tripled and automobile use will have
drastically declined.
2. CIVIC RESPONSIBILITY; By building a new Fremont stadium, the A's organization is contributing
to urban sprawl; a social phenomena that is economically and environmentally irresponsible.
2B. Moving the stadium away from east oakland will put thousands of residents out of work who
rely on the Oakland Sports Complex for year round employment, particularly the vulnerable
youth community.
3. YOU DONT NEED TO BUILD A STATE OF THE ART FACILITY. Oakland A's fans come to the game to socialize, hear the horns, play the drums, do the wave, and watch the game. Build a simple stadium, DEVELOP EAST OAKLAND, and keep the A's in a central social gathering location.
