The Sharp GX15 is currently at the forefront of mobile phone technology and is unmatched in its features, it has every conceivable feature available today. Many of these features however, have been disabled or greatly limited by the operating system and software of the phone. This is not only directing many interested buyers away from this phone, but it is placing the current owners at a great disadvantage. The GX15 is not an inexpensive device by any means, and as such, it should not be limited in its features by the software.
It is understandable that a reason for disabling and limiting many of the features of this phone may be to urge the subscribers of Vodafone to use the data services of these companies, however, this phone has been purchased at a high price and legally unlocked by many for use on various other networks internationally. Those owners who havent access to the Vodafone networks, have a phone that is greatly crippled in its features and functionality.
Those individuals whose names appear on this petition request that the Sharp Corporation release a firmware upgrade for this phone accommodating as many of these features or removing as many of these software limitations as possible. The following list is in no particular order, but does intend to place greater emphasis on the Bluetooth, infrared and video player limitations:
- More Bluetooth Profiles for Connection with other Phones and Computers
- More Infrared Usability
- Removal of the Limits on Video Size
- Removal of Size Limits on Sounds
- Installation of Java Programs/Applications via Bluetooth/Infrared
- Option to Customize the Shortcuts on Main Screen
We sincerely hope that Sharp can realize the full potential of this phone and by resolving these issues, make a truly good phone a truly perfect phone.
