No delay, climate bill now!
Dear elected members of parliament,
This is not a petition -- it is a request. A request made by Canadian citizens of all walks of life. A request made with earnest and truthful sentiment. More importantly, it is a simple request. We the undersigned ask you, as our representatives in parliament, to vote yes on Bill C-311, the Copenhagen Bill. We ask you to deny the Conservatives' appeal for a 30-day extension on the Bill C-311 vote. We ask you to enable the Environment Committee to do their job and make this bill law. Furthermore, we ask you do this before December 6th, 2009.
This bill is more than Canadian policy; it is a signal. It is a signal to the world of Canada's intent to take strong, immediate action on climate change. It is a signal of Canada's commitment to the international political process and willingness to work with the rest of the world and not against it. It is a strong signal. It is the right signal. It is our signal!
No longer will we let Canada blockade international climate negotiations. Bill C-311 must be passed before the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change - Conference of Parties 15 in Copenhagen on December 7th, 2009.
