Dear Sirs and Madam,
We, residents of Bandra West, are in favour, if at all, of any proposed extension of the Bandra-Worli Sea Link from Bandra to Versova only as a similar Sea Link at least 1 km into the sea, which will minimise the damage done to the environment, not least the mangroves and ocean vista, which is Mumbais most prized natural asset. .
We understand that the MSRDC plans to have an entry and exit of the proposed Sea Link extension near the southern tip of Joggers Park.
As is evident from the traffic congestion along Joggers Park every evening caused by those who use the Park, this strip of Carter Road cannot take additional traffic and the very entry to the Joggers Park by hundreds every evening in particular will block the movement of traffic northwards. There are, in addition, scores of cars which drop and pick up members of the Otters Club.
Even if there is a setback taken along the Joggers Park up to Otters Club, as has already been envisaged, the road cannot accommodate any increase in traffic and the entrances to the Park and Club will prove an insurmountable obstacle. As it is, particularly at week-ends, the junction at Otters Club is choked with cars moving in different directions.
We believe that with the extension of the Sea Link northwards, only those who live in Bandra will exit off the Bandra-Worli Sea Link near Lilavati Hospital, which should be sufficient to accommodate the traffic. Since the MSRDC plans to have exits at Gazdar Bandh in Khar and Juhu, this will accommodate those motorists who live in Khar, Santa Cruz and Juhu, who now use the Lilavati Hospital exit and would actually reduce load on the existing outlets. I
We trust you will take into account these objections of Bandra residents to the proposed access at Joggers Park.
