We are the family member, friends, volunteers and supporters of James Scott Altman who are deeply concerned about the conviction of Second Degree Murder in Midland County Case No.: 05-2297-FH-L and his subsequent incarceration. Our concerns involve more than our relationship with James. We are also taxpayers and we are concerned about the miscarriage of justice involved with wrongfully convicted citizens of our State. We believe the very act of convicting and incarcerating an INNOCENT individual is morally and ethically wrong. The means by by which this innocent individual was convicted is also morally and ethically wrong.

We, the undersigned, after having reviewed the available facts and information about the case of James Scott Altman, conclude that:

The known facts and evidence of the case prove his innocence beyond a reasonable doubt. For information, please visit www.tiptopwebsite.com/operationfreejimmy.

There are wrongful convictions occurring in our courts at an alarming rate. It seems that the accused are now guilty until proven innocent. We, as voting, taxpaying citizens of the United State of America expect our tax dollars to be well spent, and that the true criminals, not innocent people should pay the price for wrongdoing.

We, as citizens, share the same concerns about crime as anyone else. But, our collective observation is that the judicial system is often a large part of the problem and a miscarriage of justice, instead of it being a source of justice. Although the crime rate is currently dropping, the rate of incarceration is rising. The prisons are over-populated because innocent victims are filling the prison systems instead of the true criminals. Until some justice is restored concerning the number of wrongful convictions and, until we are willing to decriminalize social issues, accident, suicides and psychological illnesses, these problems will remain unsolved!

To deny justice undermines our legal institutions and violates human rights laws and standards; therefore,

We hereby join Operation Free Jimmy Campaign in seeking justice for the true victim in this case. We demand that the authorities of the State of Michigan immediately take the necessary steps to ensure that a FAIR trial be held or that James Scott Altman be granted a full pardon.

Sincerely,
