Parkfairfax Condo Needs to Take the Lead for Alexandria's Issuance of a Bush-Cheney Impeachment Resolution

BACKGROUND: Now that communities from San Francisco, Calif., to several small towns in Vermont have added their governments' names to the grassroots effort calling for immediate impeachment of Pres. George W. Bush and V.P. Dick Cheney, why must the city of Alexandria, Va. (which already has on the books an anti-Patriot-Act resolution), miss out on all the fireworks and history-making inherent in such a citizens movement? To assure that all True Patriots in Alexandria will have a front-row seat (as well as a key role) in this civic drama, at least one Parkfairfaxian is circulating the following draft resolution for formal adoption by the Parkfairfax Board of Directors. Let's help ease the Board's decision-making in this regard by gathering as many signatures as we can, from around the globe, within the next several weeks. TEXT OF THE PROPOSED RESOLUTION CALLING FOR BUSH-CHENEY'S IMPEACHMENT:

The undersigned members of the Parkfairfax Condominium Board of Directors (Alexandria, Va.), in fulfillment of our duty and commitment to the civic sensibilities of our community and to the principles of constitutional governance, do hereby issue this resolution to the Alexandria City Council, which in turn is requested promptly to adopt similar language for a resolution of its own:

-- Whereas, in the words of Harper's magazine editor Lewis H. Lapham (in his cover story for March 2006), "... conspiracy to commit fraud would seem reason enough to warrant the President's impeachment.";

-- Whereas, the Bush-Cheney administration continues to draw upon excessive secrecy, fear-mongering, warrantless surveillance, and intimidation of whistleblowers so as to isolate and insulate itself from full accountability for its illegal acts of omission/commission (to the detriment of U. S. and foreign citizens alike); and

-- Whereas, despite the damning content in the recent impeachment-related Conyers Report (issued by Rep. John Conyers, Jr.), no member of Congress has yet to formally introduce the necessary Articles of Impeachment --

NOW, be it resolved that we citizen leaders of Parkfairfax, ever mindful of our status as part of the governed as well as of the governors in America, hereby (1) seek the prompt impeachment described herein; (2) deliver this resolution to the Alexandria City Council for its equivalent adoption in suitable form; and (3) post this document in paper form upon a prominent place in the Parkfairfax office, as well as in electronic form upon the Parkfairfax official web site ( http://www.parkfairfax.info ).
