Petition to influence Madonna to raise awareness and push for changes to homophobic Malawian law

We, the undersigned would like to ask Madonna and the Raising Malawi organisation to raise awareness of the disgusting law in Malawi that punishes gay people living in Malawi and to push and to influence change to this.

We want to ask for this backward law to be highlighted by Madonna in her high-profile humanitarian work of improving living conditions for Malawians. In doing so, others across the world are made aware of this and protest and push for change and demand the release of those currently incarcerated or under prosecution for being in love with someone of the same sex.

Madonna being very high profile, a supporter of gay rights, human rights as well as celebrated and supported by the gay community for the duration of her career.

In signing this petition, you agree that:
1) the current legislation in Malawi surrounding this is apalling and must be changed. Those currenly under prosecution or imprisoned must be released and charges dropped.

2) to ask that Madonna and her Raising Malawi associates highlight this backward law to others, that they raise discussion and provoke change of this, with Malawian government.


Once completed, this petition will be sent to Madonna, her management and to the Raising Malawi organisation of which she is a founder of. The Malawian government will also receive a copy of this.
