1. I am a resident of the community of Midwood/Flatbush, located in the borough of Brooklyn, within the City of New York and am within the listening distance of the Sabbath call soundings emanating from the roof of Yeshiva/Mesivta Kamenitz (Corner of East 19th Street and Avenue N, Brooklyn, New York).
2. The two regular soundings of the Sabbath Call that comes from the roof of Congregation/Yeshiva Kamenitz every Friday before Sabbath evening services serves as a reminder to me, my family and other residents in the community that any work prohibited on the Sabbath must soon cease. The soundings of the Sabbath Call also serve as a call to prayer for me and have deep religious significance to me as a practicing Orthodox Jew.
3. The Sabbath Call length and loudness is reasonable and necessary in order for me and others in the community to hear and understand the significance of the sounds.
4. The Sabbath Call has its origins in the Talmud, an ancient Jewish law compendium that still has binding force today.
5. Midwood/Flatbush is not the only community in the City of New York in which a Sabbath Call is sounded, with some communities having had such Calls in place for over thirty years. Sabbath Calls are sounded regularly in the State of Israel before the Sabbath.
6. New York Citys legal actions against Yeshiva/Mesivta Kamenitz have threatened my ability to practice Judaism, one of the worlds oldest faiths, without government interference and have threatened my rights as a citizen of the United States of America. The City of New York should immediately cease legal actions.
