1) to search for the original vinyl LP aand pay an exorbitant amount of
money (ranging in the hundreds of dollars), or...
2) to obtain bootleg copies through various means
Both of those options mean that you at Warner Brothers Records receive NO money from the sale of this album. Food for thought.
Also, the late Vivian Stanshall was among the first rock musicians to utilise African musical styles and he did so on this album. He was assisted by famous musicians such as Steve Winwood (Traffic), Ric Grech (Blind Faith), and Neil Innes (The Rutles and fellow Bonzo Dog Band alumnus like Vivian), so people who appreciate their music (and there are many) will be enticed to purchase "Men Opening Umbrellas Ahead".
Now when it comes to a CD release of "Men Opening Umbrellas Ahead", there are many factors that come into play here. First, the master tape of the second side was lost so it had to be pressed from an acetate. If someone did a search of the vaults, there is the possibility of finding the original multitrack master, ensuring better sound quality. Around the period that "Men Opening Umbrellas Ahead" was recorded, Vivian Stanshall released a single "Lakonga" which is extremely rare at this time. If a CD reissue of "Men Opening Umbrellas Ahead" is prepared, "Lakonga" and it's B-side "Baba Tunde", could be included as bonus tracks.
So please Warner Brothers, please give this lost classic the proper release it deserves and reissue Vivian Stanshall's "Men Opening Umbrellas Ahead"
