Dear Namco Hometek Inc.,
I am writing about your recent Nintendo GameCube RPG triumph, Tales of Symphonia. I cherish this game, as RPG's are my favorite genre, and good ones are hard to come by on GameCube. Recently, I discovered the hidden attacks that Lloyd, Colette, and Genis possess (Falcon Crest, Holy Judgment, and Indignant Judgment, respectively) and was awestruck by the amazing battle graphic that accompanied each one. I set out trying to discover other character's secret attacks, and eventually turned to the Internet.
It was here I discovered that, yes, the other party members did have special attacks, but I was greatly disappointed when I learned that these would exist in a future version of Tales of Symphonia that was to be released on Sony's PlayStation 2 in 2005. To me, this was a slap in the face. One of the only good GameCube RPG's was being re-released with added features on another console. Other screenshots featured new Combined Unison Attacks, and new costumes for everyone. I even saw Kratos, who never changes costume in the GameCube version, wearing a Mizuho style outfit. However, I realize this is not uncommon, as it happened recently with Capcom's sidescroller Viewtiful Joe, a popular game, as well, with the PlayStation 2 version including the popular character "Dante" from Capcom's Devil May Cry series. But my request is this.
I realize that Tales of Symphonia on PlayStation 2 is unavoidable, so I will not ask you to please not make it, as I know I, and others, will be ignored. What I ask is that this new version be reprinted for GameCube owners as well.
Friends of mine have said that, in Japan, this happens frequently, and gamers go and exchange their old copies, along with an extra $20-$30, for the new game. I believe that the aforementioned method of business is a good one, as it leaves publishers and gamers happy. So please, re-release Tales of Symphonia with all of it's added features that are planned for the PlayStation 2 on the GameCube as well. Thank you for taking the time to read this petition.
