Promotion for silverchair's new album, Diorama

WE, the undersigned believe the band, silverchair deserve to be heard! Silverchair is a band that has touched our lives with their music. Through the years, we have grown along side the band and evolved with them and their music. On the 28th of August, silverchair's fourth (4th) album entitled, Diorama was released here in the states. We believe this is an amazing work of art and talent, and that it should have the chance to be heard! But unfortunately, due to Daniels health, the band is not able to tour and do their normal promotional duties for this album. And we are upset that we have not heard "The Greatest View" or "Without You" on the radio, nor have we seen the video clips on television. Since the band can not be out there themselves promoting Diorama, we would expect that silverchair's representation in the United States, would be doing extra to make sure that this album gets out there and is heard by the general public. Yet, when I called the local alternative/rock radio station, WZTA here in South Florida, the DJ told me that silverchair had not released anything new. When I told her that I knew for a fact that they did, she admitted that they had indeed released the album but the station was not going to be playing the singles for the public and that if I wanted to hear it, they would only play it after 11:00 PM. I have spoken with other people online who have run into similar problems regarding this issue. And we are very disturbed by it.
We know that the radio stations are controlled by the major record labels who tell them what to play and pay them well if they obey. We are not fools, and do not like being taken as so by the music industry. We, the people, are your target audience. We buy the records. We go to the shows. Please respect us enough to know that we know what we like and we will decide what we consider good music. You do not need to do that for us! We can think for ourselves. We ask that you give silverchair the much-earned respect they deserve. What sets silverchair apart from most other bands, is that they have a real and genuine talent and appreciation for music. They are not just kids making noise, like a lot of what we hear today is. They take time making their music, instead of rushing right into the studio after a tour. They give themselves time and experience instead of burning themselves out like so many other acts. We do not care if silverchair is making as much money for the labels and the industry as Kid Rock, Stained, Creed etcWe just care about the music being heard by all who want to hear it. It is a choice for the people to make, not the radio stations, MTV, VH1, or the record labels.

Also, we understand that Atlantic Records has put together a "Street Team" for silverchair, but the LAS (silverchairs fan club) and Chairpage.com (official web site) have received numerous complaints about the Street Team, and we have yet to see the Street Team do anything productive in the promotion of this album other than spread the word online, which isn't doing much good for the band or Diorama.

We were also appalled at the fact that VH1 and MTV refer to silverchair as "one hit wonders". If that were true, Sony would not have put out a "Greatest hits" album.

We are coming together to stand up for a band that we love. Please hear us out. We will not go away! We will keep pushing until Diorama sees the light of day in America.
