Protection of the Sullivan Heighs Peacocks

For the past couple of decades peacocks have lived in acreages in the Sullivan Heights area. Recently the acreages have been developed into suburban homes. After the complaints of a couple residents the City of Surrey has tried to remove them. They hired a consultant to find out how to best trap the peacocks. The consultant, according to the Leader (see attached), trespassed and swore at residents.
The peacocks are not aggressive; they avoid most contact with humans. They also do not touch or tip garbage and make minimal mess (only their Droppings which get washed away with each rain). Contrary to belief they only make noise in the spring and early summer.
Many residents love the peacocks. Who make our neighborhood beautiful and unique. It is not at all just that a few people can complain and ruin something great for everyone else. The peacocks were living in Sullivan well before the new development, they are not to blame. One can't expect to move into a neighborhood clearly lodging other animals and expect them to leave. Sullivan Heights has become their home and they are perfectly happy living together with humans.
If they absolutely must be removed, they need to be taken to a farm or other sanctuary. Do not take them to the SPCA where they may be put down.
By signing this petition you will help to protect the peacocks from inhumane treatment.
